Everywhere I go across our region, people are telling me they feel unheard. I get it. Politicians dash in during an election campaign to hand out a few ‘goodies’, then we don’t see them again for four years. Did they hear anything during their whirlwind tours of our electorate?

Enough is enough.

Our region is in serious need of independent representation in our Parliament, in both houses. We need people who are obliged to no-one but you, bound to no agenda except the agenda of Northern Victorians.

We need Independents amongst the party-aligned politicians to keep it real.

And we need them now.

As your representative for Northern Victoria, I’m going to be hearing you. Regularly, intently, formally, genuinely. Hearing you. Through my dedicated Local Hearing Forums.

You might have heard about different types of ‘citizens’ assemblies’? Well, that’s the sort of thing I’m proposing to you here.

I’ll bring together representative groups to share their expertise and experience, hear different perspectives, and engage in robust, facilitated discussions to develop practical recommendations. And then I’ll take those to the Parliament, fiercely advocating for what you have proposed.

This is not just more consultation. This is different.

This is a structured, good faith process that respects the people who live here and draws on the collective wisdom of our community - your wisdom.
